If you want to help an abused or neglected children, then you have to know what to look for.The following below shows the signs to look for, but don't look for just these signs, because there are plenty more signs. The presence of a single sign does not prove child abuse is occurring in a family, but looking deeper into the situation may be warranted when these signs appear repeatedly or in combination.
The Child:
- Shows sudden changes in behavior or school performance
- Has learning problems (or difficulty concentrating) that cannot be attributed to specific physical or psychological causes
- Is always watchful, as though preparing for something bad to happen
- Comes to school or other activities early, stays late, and does not want to go home
The Parent:
- Shows little concern for the child
- Sees the child as entirely bad, or worthless.
- Demands a level of physical or academic performance the child cannot achieve
- Looks primarily to the child for care, attention, and satisfaction of emotional needs
Signs that recognizes sexual abuse are when the child:
Signs of physical abuse are when the child:
- Has difficulty walking or sitting
- Reports nightmares or bed wetting
- Demonstrates bizarre, sophisticated, or unusual sexual knowledge or behavior
- Becomes pregnant or contracts a venereal disease, particularly if under age 14
- Reports sexual abuse by a parent or another adult caregiver
Has injuries such as burns, bruises, etc. and the child cannot explain where they got it. Has marks after returns from being absent from school. Shrinks at the approach of adults
Signs of neglect are when the child:
Is absent from school often. Begs or steals food or money Abuses alcohol or other drugs
Signs of Emotional Maltreatment are when the child:These signs are not all the signs to look for... If you suspect a child is being a victim of abuse the following sources are a few ways to report:

I found your post very interesting. I can not stand seeing a child that has been or is abused. Your post gives a lot of important facts on how to recognize child abuse and that's very important. No child should have to life a live of fear and worry. Great post!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, I am trying so hard to get the point across so many people, and hopefully everyone who are reading my blog are telling friends and family about it. Once again thank you for commenting, and for your support.
DeleteOverall, you have a very good post. Your topic deals with very serious issues that people need to realize. The signs of any abuse are subtle, but they are there and people need to see them in order for the child and the parent to get help. Also to add, your citation of your picture is not cited correctly. I would fix this, if you don't it makes your blog look messy and it doesn't give all the credit the author/owner deserves. Good post!
ReplyDeleteGreat post. I was just wanting to know is child abuse going to far? Many parents cannot discipline their child because of the lies children say. Do you think children are getting out of hand lying about such a serious matter?
ReplyDeleteWhen you say "going to far", what do you mean by that. Can you be more specific? In my opinion, I do think children are getting out of hand with lying. I agree, may parents cannot disipline their child without being accused of abusing their child. If you let me know more in depth of what you mean by the first question I will try my hardest to answer. Thank you for your questions. Also let me know if I gave you the answer you was looking for, or if I didn't answer your question.
DeleteGreat topic. However, just because you give credit to the initial information, does not mean it is okay to copy and paste and entire post.
